The refractory plates designed and manufactured by Deguisa are key elements of the sliding gate mechanism, being responsible for closing and controlling the flow of molten steel from the laddle to the tundish.

Deguisa manufactures NOVALCO® sliding gate, original Deguisa design, and any non-patented plate model  available on the world market.

Sliding gate mechanism for flow control of molten steel from laddle to tundish.

NOVALCO is an exclusive design by Deguisa, available in three models to adapt to any laddle geometry. The opening of the mechanism could be vertical or horizontal, depending on how the hydraulic actuator is aligned with the laddle supports.

The inert gas blowing system includes the mechanical and refractory components necessary to guarantee the flow and pressure conditions required by the installation.

The closing mechanism of the plug is characterized by its design as a gate with a tilting base, which allows a correct positioning and tightening of the assembly against the base of the laddle.

It includes the following mechanical elements:
• level plate for laddle bottom.
• plug closing system.
• non-return valves.

Deguisa also designs and manufactures the refractory components of the argon purging system in different geometries and qualities:
1. Porous plug.
2. Directional plug.
3. Plug block.

The refractory components of the purging systems is one of the elements of greatest responsibility of the installation.

Deguisa designs and manufactures porous and directional plugs to homogenize temperature and composition of molten steel. This is achieved by combining an optimal design with the ideal refractory quality for steel in the steelmaking process.

The purging plugs are supplied in different formats:

The plugs include a witness that allows detecting when the end of the useful life is reached.

The plugs are installed in the holder blocks designed and manufactured in concrete with low cement content by Deguisa to give the highest possible performance in severe conditions of thermal shock and wear by contact with steel.

Preformed corundum flange to protect the steel cover of the top of the ladder against steel splashes, slag and mechanical impacts.

Roofs in refractory qualities, both poured and shaped for heating and keeping temperature prior to starting service of the ladle.
